Soon you will be able to auto backup and sync your entire computer to Google Drive.
Google Drive is being transformed into a more robust backup tool, soon, instead of files inside the disk folder, Google will monitor and backup files located inside the folder that you point to it, in your desktop, your entire document folder , Or other more specific locations.
By the end of this month, probably on June 28th, Google will launch backup and sync - a new, simple tool that is designed not only to help you get your documents and photos backed up in the cloud but also your entire computer.
Data loss is always the worst thing that can happen to anyone, so backing up all your data is always a good idea. Also, regular backups can save you and your company in data violations and events in Ransomware attacks.
"On June 28th, 2017, we will launch Backup and Sync from Google, a tool intended to help everyday users back up files and photos from their computers, so they’re safe and accessible from anywhere," reads Google's post on the G Suite Blog.
However, this is a smart move by Google and a very easy feature. There have been Requests for Dropbox to add something like this for ages, and it’s yet to get around to it.
The backup and sync tool will replace the current Google Drive uploader client for Mac / PC, and the desktop will also be integrated into the Google Photos Uploader.
Therefore, instead of creating completely new folders on your system, the tool allows you to select system drives and folders and recreate your system accordingly.
The new full-system backup tool is useless for free accounts coming with 15GB of storage, but user can get 100GB of storage for $ 10 / month, 10GB of storage for just $ 2 / month, and 10 TB for $ 100 a month.
